Good Monday morning everyone! You’ll have to excuse me today – my youngest child started Kindergarten today! GAH! So now both of my children are in school and, well, quite frankly I’m not sure what to do with myself! I guess it will give me more time to look for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie news, huh?
And look at that, Brad is already keeping me busy! Brad Pitt flew to Spain yesterday and was photographed quite extensively. But what is he doing in Spain? My Spanish? Not so good, but from what I can tell here’s what happened:
Brad was invited to Aviles, Spain, by Natalio Grueso, the director of the Niemeyer Center. The Niemeyer Center is a center that was designed by famed Brazilian architect, Óscar Niemeyer, and was designed to “promote a great urban regeneration process in Avilés”. This ambitious center, which will be finished in 2010, has:
1. An auditorium for more than 1,000 people
2. An exhibition site of around 4,000 square meters
3. A tower viewpoint over the Firth and the city
4. A multipurpose building with cinemas, meeting halls, rehearsal halls, etc.
5. An open square for cultural activities whose aim is to integrate the Cultural Center into the daily life of Avilés
According to what I can find, Brad was invited to Spain by the director in order to discuss Innovation Island, another amazing creation that Grueso is trying to make become a reality. This island is going to be the door to Avilés, and is going to rebuild the damaged area that is currently there. Brad was accompanied by Lars Krückeberg, one of the founding members of GRAFT, the architectural company that Brad Pitt collaborates with on most of his architectural projects, including NOLA, as well as by some other members of the team. It is believed that Brad not only got to enjoy taking a peak at the Niemeyer Center, but that he is also there to discuss what he and GRAFT can bring to Innovation Island (there is talk about it being totally green, but I don’t have that confirmed yet!)
Apparently Brad and the design team wandered around the beautiful city of Avilés for a bit, until the fans began to realize that he was in their town and, apparently, mobbed him (as you can see from the picture below).
I’m still digging into this story, and would love for any fans of this site who read Spanish to give me a good translation of the story, as Google Translate? Doesn’t exactly give the best translation (there’s something at the bottom of the article about Brad being asked to get his picture taken with a waiter and something about a bottle being thrown – but the translation leaves much to be desired!).

OMG! Thanks for these new pics of Brad, Randi! They´re just wonderful. He looks really happy and relaxed. All this time he and the rest of the family have spent in France has worked miracles on him. He looks soooo good. And to those h8ters I would like to say one thing:he doesn´t have an ounce of extra fat in his body!! Last week´s In Touch (aka Out Of Touch) had a cover story which said that Angie is embarrased by his embarrasing weight gain. What weight! He isn´t fat at all! But back on the topic. Wonder if this trip was only a one-day trip. I think so. It´s only a short flight from France to Spain so I suspect that Brad flew home late last night. It´s always wonderful to see him supporting these different architectural things. He must have really enjoyed this trip. Wonder what Angie did with the kids while daddy was away?! She sure spent a fun day with all of them. God bless the JPs 4ever!
Everytime there are news about Brad & Angie in foreign papers, I always wish that I know the language so that I can read. I miss a lot thru translation. Thanks Randi for bringing the news here.

I know that there will be a festival on 18 Sept in Spain & IB will be the opening clip. Hopefully (a thousand please) that they will make an appearance. I don’t recall Brad & Angie ever appear in Spain before. I might be wrong.

Brad looks great! The Niemeyer Center and Innovation Island also sound very cool – the type of project he would like to be involved in.

If I remember it right, AJ & BP had “mommy & daddy time” in Spain once. They had a date, alone time together. AJ was even driving a rented car while BP was taking pics with his camera. It was also reported that they were lost but found their way through a stranger.
is that what they call fat and old? even young girls wants to take a photo of him. Brad is still looking hot and he is aging very well. i bet Angie is very happy and supportive of Brad’s new project.

neer – you remembered just right. It must have been in 2007 when Brad and Angie had some “mommy-daddy” time in Spain. And Angela. I soooo agree with you. Brad isn´t fat and old. He´s as hot and sexy as always. I hate those h8ters who even dare to say that kind of things. he´s ageing really well. Angie is the luckiest woman on earth to have such a handsome man by her side. She sure supports all her projects – even this one. She knows how much architecture means to Brad. God bless the JP family!
Ohh Randi can you believe that now I got you’re back?! I wasn’t checking my Twitter for a long time and I’ve just seen you’re still there for Brad&Angie fans! I’d missed your blog soooo much! I’ve become so delighted to have a chance to read your blog again.
Anyway, thanks for the beautiful photos of Brad in Spain. He looks happy and relaxed as he does a job, architecture, which he loves and enjoys very much. BTW I loved especially the last photo where the girls trying to get a photo with Brad. I wish I were between them, with Brad.
Randi, I remember having the same feelings when all my children were in school. Enjoy it, summer vacation will be back again sooner than you think.
